Unfortunately we have to take a break from Norah's violin lessons! Her classes were switched to the same day as her ballet class and its been too much for one day for her (and me). We'll go back in a few months to a new time and with an older Norah. In the meantime, we'll miss Mrs. Kelly!

Snow Day
We woke up to a chilly day of light snow - just enough to entertain us, but not enough to inconvenience...This is as close as Emerson was enterested in coming to the snow. I tried to give him some, but he was having none of it!
Norah was thrilled - she even made a miniature snowman (her first).
With such small amounts of snow, we managed to pick up bits of bark in our snowman. In case you are wondering, his eyes and mouth are made of dog treats. :-) We left him on Grammie's porch.

Crazy MK Day
We haven't visited Michelle in quite a while - so it was GREAT to stop at our old Starbucks and hang out. I really miss NE Portland and all the action there...its so quiet in our new 'hood. After coffee we dropped by the adjacent library and made it to storytime. Even that is a different experience - one of the songs was about making pizza and all the kids were throwing out toppings. Someone said they like natural yeast and another liked veggie sausage. Hehehe. Eventually we made our way over to Ryan's office for lunch with Ryan and a family friend, Ron Ricks. Whew, that was a lot for one morning.

Busy Tuesday
Tuesday are a busy day for us! Norah has both her ballet and her violin lesson, so there is lots of running around. After violin we stopped for lunch at Burgerville with Hadley and Kimmie (and their parents). The jukebox was like a magnet for all the girls.
Emerson has to spend a LOT of time in the car and his patience tends to wear thin. He was very cranky and gnawing on his toe. :-)

Neil's Birthday
Neil's wife, Dannelle, invited us over for cake tonight to celebrate Neil's 25th birthday. Norah and I had a girls night out excursion and had quite good time playing with everyone. We were the first to arrive and the last to leave! (sorry you had to kick us out...)
One of my other SIL, Katie, had a birthday on the 17th, so we sang to her as well!Neil, imitating one of Robert's goofy faces
Norah helped Neil scoop ice cream - she'd scoop a bit out and putit on the plate, then lick the spoon off - then repeat. :-)
Chillin with the G'rents
A lunchtime visit with my grandparents. Norah loves it - she gets to bask in all the attention, recieve a ride on Grandpa's cart, PLUS there is a stage that she can dance on. Ahhh...good times. My mom joined us as well.
Emerson found his favorite place to nap, with my mom. No one else can get him to fall asleep like this!

Just like Daddy
Emerson is perched on the arm of the couch, right next to Ryan's man-chair, playing along on the X-Box. If you look, you'll see his remote doesn't have the battery pack...but Emerson toggles and pushes buttons right along. If you stand between him and the TV, he'll crane his neck to see around you. LOL - I wonder what he thinks he's participating in?? BTW, Ryan has a similar glazed/focused-but-distracted expression when he plays. :-)

Third time is *NOT* a Charm
Today was such a beautiful day I decided to take the kids to the park again. Since it was so nice, I invited Grammie and Kodiak to join us. Whew, who knew things could go so wrong?? After unloading at the park we walked up to a play area, where EVERY CHILD (count 4) I had with me went into an hysterical fit. Crying, sobbing, yelling...you name it. What a disaster. Eventually Kimberly calmed down and enjoyed herself - and Emerson had a couple moments of happiness. As soon as my mom arrived and Norah and Hadley caught sight of her they bolted over, sobbing in her arms. What a welcome. Needless to say, we left after about 15 minutes. Ugh.
Emerson's short happy periodI love this tree and make everyone get their pic with it. :-) Even Kodiak, who is too cool for pics. Check out his spiffy WSU sweatshirt - he is taking early enrollment classes at the WSU - Vancouver campus.
Kodiak, running back and forth to spin Hadley and Kimmie!

Hadley Ballerina
Cousin Hadley joined Norah's ballet class - they are close enough in age that they are in the same class. We had a really fun time getting her all ready - shoes, tights, hair and fancy leotard. She just couldn't wait for class to begin! She is a natural, incredibly graceful and quick to pick everything up. And adorable!
She kept peeking out the window to wave at me!

The Princess Tree
This year Norah and I made a special Christmas tree for her bedroom and we've been calling it the Princess Tree. The only rules are that the ornaments must be pink, sparkly or silver. It will be fun to pick up ornaments as the years go by. As Kimmie and Hadley are spending some time with us, we've decided to leave it up till they move into their new home - they've loved it as well.
We are brainstorming ideas for an Emerson tree for next year - if you have suggestions, let us know!
