Make Your Mark for Literacy!

Today Norah and I celebrated Pi Beta Phi's Day of Service with our local alumnae club's Cat in the Hat (aka Jeanne B.)! The club hosted an event at Borders Books, benefiting our literacy partner First Book. If you haven't heard of this program, but sure to check them out! First Book is a wonderful organization dedicated to providing opportunity for children to become owners of their very own books. As a Pi Phi and a mom, I am so honored to support these efforts.Aunt Marla, Solomon, Sophie and Sara joined us at the event. Marla's mom is a First Book volunteer in Pennsylvania, so this was another way for Marla to support her mom and First Book.

Decorating bookplates! All children visiting the store today were asked to decorate bookplates to be sent back in to Pi Phi HQ. First Book is donating 50,000 books for these bookplates and Pi Phi is donating an additional 200,000 books for children in First Book. This is a great day for a great cause!
Sara, Norah and Sophie were very diligent with their artwork. We also had time to browse for books and even read a few there. (Aunt Marla treated Norah to a painting book, so we've spent a looong time this afternoon with the paintbrush out. Thanks, Marla!)

Cute Solomon and Norah!
Bridgeport Village is fun on a clear(ish) day. After our big Cat in the Hat event, Norah and I walked around admiring the fountains and stores.
